Hi!
We use your LS336 controller and want to connect 2 PT100 with 4 pins each. We have to use one 15pin Sub-D connector for both of the PT100. So instead of using one cable for each PT100 (as recommended in your manual) we want to use a single CAT7 S/FTP network cable for both sensors. This cable has 4 twisted pairs, each shielded with aluminium foil, and one outer foil.
On one end the cable is connected to a 15 pin Sub-D connector, on the other end the cable ends in two DIN 45322 connectors that get plugged into the LS336.
Can you confirm that this solution works as well as the 2-cable solution recommended in you manual? If this is the case, can you give a recommendations on how to connect the pair-shields and the outer shield? I suppose we can just connect the 2 pair-shields of each PT100 to the pins 3 and 6 of the DIN connector. How do we proceed with the outer shield?
Thanks in advance for your answer!

Hello Je,
The CAT 7 cable should work very well for the application you have described.
In regards to which shields to connect, we suggest that you at a minimum connect the outer shield to either of the input connectors. In addition, if you want to also connect the individual pair shields, you can do that to each input. On the 6-pin input mating connector both pins 3 & 6 connect to the Model 336 ground plane so that should allow sufficient terminations for those connections, however, you will need to double up at least one of the terminations on either pin 3 or 6.
